INTERESTING, INSPIRATIONAL, INFORMATIVE

I enjoy biographies and try to sprinkle my reading list with a few bios each year. I found this one at the Emporium here in York, PA - for $1.00!

This book was published by Random House in 1998. Reeve’s opens the story with a quote from Helen Keller.
“The marvelous richness of human experience would lose something of rewarding joy if there were not limitations to overcome. The hilltop hour would not be half so wonderful if there were no dark valleys to traverse.”
The story is about a man who had it all . . . fame, fortune, and family. But one fall from a horse (he was an avid rider) and all that changed. The book is about lessons learned while in a wheelchair.
1. Life is fragile.
2. The importance of paying attention to people.
3. The responsibility to stay positive.
4. Using pain to help people.
5. Don’t ever take anything for granted.
Before he died, Christopher Reeve started a foundation (CFR) to raise funds and awareness for medical research leading to the effective treatment of and, ultimately, a cure for spinal cord injury paralysis. Chris Reeve's birthday would have been this week. (Sept. 1952 - Oct. 2004)

As far as biographies go, I would rate this as interesting, inspirational and informative. Out of 5 stars, a solid 4.
