For those who know me, it will be no surprise to you that Len Sweet is one of my favs. (Soul Tsunami, Starbucks, So Beautiful, Nudge and now this book). His discussion of journey vs. finish line was breathtaking. Simply, disciples are people committed to "finishing well". Can you hear me resonating? His thesis...

• The real meaning of life is not a journey or an arrival question. It's a relationship question". (p. 19) 

• We need guides and guards". (p. 19)

• We need a Nathan, Jonathan, Jethro, Timothy, Barnabas, Paul, Deborah, Zacchaeus, Rhoda, Lydia, Sarah, Abram, Joseph, Eli, Esther and others.

The book got me to thinking. Who are these people in my life? Be thankful for them. Nurture the relationship. Find others to fill in the gaps. And who can I be for others? We will need them all to finish well.
