I was asked recently how the Stillmeadow Food Pantry got
started ......
“A few years ago Bill Underwood walked into my office
and expressed concern about those in our community who don’t have enough money
to buy food. So I suggested that he start a food pantry, here at the church.”
Bill responded, “Pastor Bud, how in the world would I do that?”
“Well Bill, I
suggest you get yourself a wagon and try pulling it through your neighborhood.
In fact, the church will give you a badge to wear, so people know you are an
official Stillmeadow Food Pantry Agent.” Bill agreed, and a few days later came
back to the church with two wagons loaded with food, and the Stillmeadow Food Pantry
was born!
TODAY’S YOUNGEST
PANTRY HEROES
This important Compassionate
Ministry at Stillmeadow continues to thrive in these tough economic times. Rachel Zeigler, Stillmeadow’s Preschool Director said last month our preschoolers were taught this
lesson: “God loves us and God loves others. And since we love God and we love others,
we will take care of our neighborhoods.” Not only were the kids taught this
lesson, they decided to act on what they learned. So to live out this lesson,
the group collected 159 food items for our church food pantry! Hooray for the
Christ-Centered generosity of our preschool families!
FUTURE CHANGES COMING
In the near future, we will update you
on important improvements to this outreach. Stay tuned!
