We may not be able see the whole scope of time, but we can live with eternal perspective.
We can pray with David in Psalm 90:12, 14 (NLT) 12 Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom. 14 Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives. May we never retire from rejoicing!
Realizing the brevity of life doesn’t mean that we walk around with a defeated, fatalistic attitude. It just means that we realize that life is a precious gift to both savor and steward. It means that we will choose to live this day in loving submission to the lordship of Jesus Christ.
Many people are dreading December 21, 2012 as “the end of the world as we know it” (teotwawki is the buzz word), because of a reference in an ancient Mayan calendar or a galactic alignment that will blow up the universe or allow gamma rays to fry us all.
I’m not worried. Our Lord Jesus said that no man knows the DAY or the hour” in Matthew 25:13 and Colossians 1:17 says that “in Christ all things hold together.” Lord Jesus is King!!! So, chilleth my beloved!!
The great theologian, Lucy, in the peanuts comic strip once said, “Don’t worry about the world coming to an end today. It’s already tomorrow in Australia!” She’s right, but there’s a greater reason to not worry. King Jesus Reigns!
So, let’s make each day … let’s make THIS day count!
As Paul said in 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 (NLT) 13 Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. 14 And do everything with love. These are good instructions for all of us for TODAY! Tomorrow will come soon enough! So, let’s Seek God. Serve Others. Together.
Amazingly Graced,
Pastor Ron Salsbury
