"I WOULD CHANGE NOTHING"

One of my favorite persons of church history is General William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army. Reared in poverty, he became the leader of what is now a great army of persons dedicated to the war on poverty.

Not long before his death in 1912, Booth granted a newspaper reporter an interview. The reporter asked: “General Booth, if you knew the Lord Jesus was going to return this evening, what would you change on your schedule for today?”

Booth gently opened his appointment book, glanced over his day, and responded:

“Nothing. I would change nothing.”

Booth lived every day as if it was his last. Booth lived ready for whatever awaited him. Frankly, I want to live that way too.
