CHARACTER IN THE LIFE OF THE BELIEVER - PART TWO

ARE YOU READY TO ROW AGAINST THE WIND?
I mentioned yesterday that Paul’s second letter to Timothy outlines 19 characteristics of spiritual leaders. Let’s pick up where we left off in yesterday's post.

  1. A spiritual leader is a diligent servant
  2. A spiritual leader is a person of the Word. (II Timothy 2:15)
  3. A spiritual leaders has been set apart to walk in holiness (II Timothy 2:20-21)
  4. A spiritual leader fails gracefully (II Timothy 2:24)
  5. A spiritual leader exercises spiritual discernment (II Timothy 3:1-5)
  6. A spiritual leader is a person of influence (II Timothy 3:10-11)
  7. A spiritual leader is determined to finish.  (II Timothy 4:7)
  8. A spiritual leader will do the work of an evangelist. (II Timothy 4:1-1-2)
  9. A spiritual leader will suffer loses. (II Timothy 4:9-12, 16)
  10. A spiritual leader will leave a legacy.  (II Timothy 4:8)
K.P. Yohannan closes this works leadership manual with these thoughts: “Now Timothy is left to carry on the battle, to continue where Paul left off.  What an assignment!  I am certain that Timothy must have prayed much and sought God’s grace for the formidable task ahead of him.”

Our churches need leadership . . . spiritual leadership.  Let’s all do our part to make disciples and make ourselves available to row against the wind.
